Footing it for Flinders

“When I was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer in 2007 it changed my life forever. Thankfully the team at Flinders helped me through it and I’m now in remission. Footing it for Flinders is my way of giving back to the team that gave so much to me. It’s my hope that the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer will make it easier for those who are diagnosed with cancer and their families to face the challenges ahead and that the research conducted at the new Centre will pave the way for better treatment options and one day a cure!”

Whether we’ve survived cancer or helped a loved one through the experience, we’re not alone in the fight. Footing it for Flinders is a celebration of life and the resilience, courage, determination and strength of the human spirit.

In 2009 the Footing it for Flinders team raised more than $100,000 for the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer by challenging themselves on a hike through the Flinders Ranges.

Groovy Grape Getaways have partnered with the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation for a second year to take up to 30 participants on a 5 day trek along the Great Ocean Road, one of Australia’s most spectacular coastlines.

Each participant is responsible for raising $4,500 which will support ovarian and gynaecological cancer treatment, research and patient care at Flinders.

“One of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s so rewarding knowing you’re making a real difference to the lives of those touched by cancer.” Sharon Gower – 2009 Footing it for Flinders participants.
