In May 2007, what started as a coffee between two mates led to Tour de Cure’s registration as an Australian charity and the inaugural cycling tour.
Over five years Tour de Cure has cycled from
- Brisbane to Sydney
- Melbourne to Sydney
- Brisbane to Cairns
- Sydney to Sunshine Coast
- Sydney to Melbourne
The Tour de Cure team of riders and volunteer support crew represent a broad cross section of the Australian community, but what they all have in common is a determination and belief that a group of people can make a positive difference and help find a cure.
The remarkable event has raised over $3.8 million to date for cancer research and support services. The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation is thrilled to be a beneficiary of their support in 2011, gratefully receiving a donation of $100,000 which has enabled the build of the state-of-the-art chemotherapy suite in the new Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer.
